Operations Associate for Short Mile Logistics, an Amazon DSP
We are seeking an Operations Associate (OA) to join our team as part of our Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program. The OA will play a vital role in managing delivery drivers and equipment, ensuring delivery routes coverage, and establishing and maintaining a strong culture of safety.
The OA will have strong organizational skills, reliability, the ability to work independently, and excellent verbal communication skills. They should thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively handle multiple priorities, and prioritize tasks accordingly.
This role offers the opportunity to earn significant bonus pay on a weekly basis, contingent on DSP performance.
Full-time and Part-time positions available.

The HR will play a vital role in identifying and hiring high quality delivery drivers, ensuring delivery routes coverage, and establishing & maintaining a high safety culture standard.
The HR will have strong organizational skills, reliability, the ability to work independently, and excellent verbal communication skills. They should thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively handle multiple priorities, and prioritize tasks accordingly. This role offers the opportunity to earn significant bonus pay, contingent on achieving recruitment goals. The contractor may be hired as a permanent employee 8 weeks after launch.
Responsibilities:
Identify and Attend “Job Fairs” and other recruiting events
Honestly represent SML and the jobs we offer

Short Mile Logistics is a growing package delivery company based in the Virginia-Washington DC metropolitan area. We have a fleet of 40 vehicles on the road at any given day. We are committed to providing fast, reliable, and safe delivery services to our customers. Our team of professionals work together to ensure that our packages are delivered on time and in excellent condition.
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Fleet Manager who is a self-starter, problem solver, and team player. The candidate must be able to motivate others and wear multiple hats. As a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing our driver safety program, fleet maintenance, and communication with all layers of the company to ensure safety is always kept as a priority.
Fleet Managers have a range of responsibilities that ensure the efficient functioning of delivery operations. They are responsible for scheduling drivers to ensure that there is sufficient coverage for the following day, and for ensuring that the drivers are properly loaded and on the road in a timely manner. Fleet Managers must also be able to quickly make changes to assigned routes and communicate these changes to other managers and drivers.
To stay on top of critical communication, Fleet Managers must keep their email open and be responsive to incoming calls and texts. They must proactively communicate with station management to address any issues or delays that may arise during the day. Additionally, Fleet Managers are responsible for monitoring driver performance and providing coaching or initial training as needed.
Fleet Managers will work with management to understand which vehicles are suitable for the road and to ensure that vehicles are properly maintained. They are also responsible for assisting newly hired drivers and troubleshooting any issues that arise through the Amazon portal. Accurate clock in/out records must also be maintained for all drivers on the road.
In the event of a call-out or a missing driver, Fleet Managers are expected to jump in and cover the route themselves. They must also ensure that end-of-night inspection processes are followed, including organizing gas records, completing inspection sheets, and ensuring that trucks and vans are properly parked and free of trash.
Finally, Fleet Managers are responsible for making sure that the correct number of trucks is available for the following delivery day and for ordering rental trucks as needed.
Further responsibilities:
Build and maintain relationships with key departments and company affiliates to ensure cooperation and teamwork
Organize daily safety meetings and schedule new employee safety training
Ensure consistent application of organizational and business unit policies and procedures
Work closely with Station Manager and assist other dispatchers with required tasks
Understand fleet management procedures and policies
Conduct common vehicle maintenance procedures
Use reporting and data tracking software to coach drivers and keep reports
Identify and resolve maintenance problems and recommend cost-effective preventative maintenance measures
Document vehicle maintenance dates and details of repairs or upgrades performed
Monitor performance of all drivers while on the road
Make route recommendations designed to safely improve efficiency
Schedule preventative fleet maintenance
Evaluate drivers and keep records of drug tests and incident reports
Ensure that all safety regulations are fully implemented by all drivers
Qualifications:
21 years old or older
Valid Driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
3+ years of experience in fleet dispatching, logistics, or related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office, google suite and other relevant software applications
Familiarity with GPS and other tracking technologies
Understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures and policies
